CONSTRUCTION GRANTS

At the beginning of 2008, Jacksonville Public Library received two construction grants. Alabama Public Library Service awarded the  library $50,000 (with a $15,000 city match) for a long needed elevator. The State of Alabama Education Incentive Fund Grant provided $250,000 toward the construction of an annex, which will provide meeting space and alleviate the need to hold library programs offsite. The elevator, to be located just outside the north (basement) door, will be constructed first, as these funds must be used summer of 2008.

Sincere thanks to all JPL patrons for your phone calls, emails, and personal contacts to the City Council and to our State Legislators on behalf of the library's expansion needs.
