UPCOMING EVENTS
10th Annual Valentines from the Heart Thursday, February 2nd @ 3:30pm - 5:45pm It's time to get creative and show some love! Join us at the library anytime between 4pm and 5:45pm to make special handcrafted Valentine's Day cards for Jacksonville's elderly and homebound. We need hundreds of cards, as last year we expanded the recipients to include the Retired Senior Volunteer Program in addition to Meals on Wheels, Senior Center and assisted living & nursing home residents, so bring the whole family.
Historical Photos Meeting Thursday, February 16th @ 5pm - 7pm Jacksonville Historical Society members and the general public are invited to join us at the library in continuing to identify people and places in the library's photo archives. Many of these photos are searchable online (see instructions below), but lacking detail that would make them more meaningful or more easily searched. If you have lived in Jacksonville for a while or studied Jacksonville's history, maybe you can help or help spark someone's memory. This monumental project could involve several meetings, and it would be a great gift to Jacksonville's future generations.
Get to Know Your e-Reader (Kindle, Nook, etc.) Thursday, February 23rd @ 4pm - 5:45pm This will be a come and go program, so feel free to stop in any time with your questions. Library staffers will be available to answer questions about e-readers and explain how to use them to check out e-books from the library! Jacksonville Public Library is part of a consortium of libraries that order and share e-books, e-audiobooks and music called Camellia Net. All you need is a valid library card to check out lots of great books and the best part is there are no late fees!
