Project Gutenberg (www.gutenberg.org) - The original site for free online e-books, mostly classics, which will work with any e-reader.

Google Books (books.google.com) - This site allows preview and full view of millions of books and magazines. Download full view titles in PDF and EPUB.

Open Library (openlibrary.org) - This site from the Internet Archive, offers e-books to download in multiple formats, including MOBI/send to Kindle.

ManyBooks.net (www.manybooks.net) - This is an easy-to-search collection of free ebooks, downloadable in many formats.

Feedbooks.com (www.feedbooks.com ) - This site offers free public domain books, both old enough to have droppped out of copyright and new works by authors hoping to get noticed.

Munseys.com (munseys.com) - This site has some classics, but mainly seems to specialize in old adventure, science fiction, and detective pulp fiction. Books are available in all e-reader formats.

Great Books Online (www.bartleby.com ) - This site from Bartleby.com publishes the classics of literature, nonfiction, and reference free of charge.

InkMesh (inkmesh.com) - This is a site that searches more than 30 online sources for free e-books. You can search by title or author.

Baen Books (www.baen.com/library) - A company that publishes science fiction and fantasy novels offers a number of their titles, including those by popular authors, as a free download.

The Online Books Page (digital.library.upenn.edu/books) - The University of Pennsylvania offers hundreds of thousands of online books freely readable on the internet.

eBookFling (ebookfling.com) - This is a site to lend your e-books to other Nook and Kindle users across the nation. You keep ownership of your books and you can borrow books from others.

NetGalley (netgalley.com) - This site features more than 30 categories from 66 publishers. They currently do not support the Kindle, but promise they are working on it; keep checking their site for updates.
