Sunday & Monday:  Closed

Tuesday through Friday: 8am - 5:45pm*

T~EFFECTIVE 11/17/2011 the library will begin closing at 5:45pm on Thursdays until further notice.

Saturday: 8am - 3:45pm*

* The Youth Department will close 15 minutes earlier.

 
MEMBERSHIP
First library cards are free to individuals who show evidence of a  LOCAL mailing address and permanent address (if different).
For lost cards there is a $3.00 fee for a each replacement card.
You must have a library card in hand to check out materials.

DONATIONS TO THE LIBRARY

Donations of books, magazines and tapes are accepted year round. Those items not used in our collection are put in the book sales.

Donations made in memory or honor of an individual may be made by check to Jacksonville Public Library and include ‘in memory of …’ in the memo field of the check. A book plate will list the individual, their dates (if you wish) and donor(s). If you wish a family member notified of your donation, please provide their name/address.

 

AVAILABILITY

First time borrowers are limited to 3 items at any one time during a 90-day probation period. At the end of the probation period, borrowers who are in good standing will be allowed to check out:

  • 20 items - Adults (age 16 & up)
  • 5 items - JSU Students and temporary residents
  • 5 items (no movies) - Children (up to age 15)

All patrons will be limited to:

  • 4 audiobooks (cassette & CD) at any one time
  • 3 movies (VHS & DVD) at any one time
  • 3 items per subject at any one time

RENEWALS

Items may be renewed in person, by phone or online a maximum of 3 times unless an item has been reserved by another patron. To renew online, go the Catalog and enter your user id (library card number) and PIN in the login at the top right corner then click on My Account. To get your PIN ask a staff member when you visit the library.

 

RESERVES

Patrons may be put on a reserve (hold) list for items that are currently checked out. Patrons may place a reserve in person, by phone or online (see Catalog). Reserved items must be picked up within 24 hours of notification, or the end of the next business day. If the item is not picked up, it will be assigned to the next person on the reserve list or returned to the shelf.

 

INTERLIBRARY LOANS

Patrons in good standing may request items that the library does not own through interlibrary loan (loan from another library) at a cost of $2 per item. Interlibrary loans generally take a minimum of 2 weeks to arrive and cannot be renewed.

 

COMPUTERS

Computers are available for word processing, Internet and Alabama Virtual Library access. Patrons must agree to abide by the library's computer policy and be in good standing to use a computer. Click here to see a list of the computer/internet use rules.

 

COPYING/FAXING

Library staff will make photocopies for patrons for 20 cents per copy as long as there is no infringement of copyright law. We also have a limit of 20 copies. 

Library staff will fax for patrons at the rate of $5.00 for the first outgoing sheet, $1.00 for each page thereafter. The charge for incoming faxes is $1.00 per sheet.

 

FINES

Patrons are charged $.25 per day for each overdue book and audio book, $1.00 per day for each overdue VHS/DVD. The maximum fine is $5.00 PER ITEM. There is also a rewind fee of $1.00 for EACH VHS tape that is not rewound. Patrons are charged a replacement fee (cost of item) plus a $3.00 per item processing fee for lost or damaged materials.
